Richard Stephen Dreyfuss (born October 29, 1947) is an American actor. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dreyfuss began his acting career in the 1970s. He rose to fame with his performances in classic films such as "American Graffiti" and "Jaws."

The Rise to Stardom

Dreyfuss's breakout role came in George Lucas's "American Graffiti" (1973). His portrayal of the sarcastic and cynical Curt Henderson earned him critical acclaim. He went on to star in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster hit "Jaws" (1975), playing the role of the marine biologist Matt Hooper. These iconic roles propelled Dreyfuss to stardom and established him as a leading man in Hollywood.
