Google and Blogger.com Announce New Policy to Protect Users

New Policy Aims to Combat Harmful Content and Ensure User Safety

Google and Blogger.com have recently announced a new policy aimed at protecting users from harmful content. The policy, which went into effect on January 1, 2023, outlines a number of changes that will be made to the way that content is moderated on both platforms.

One of the most significant changes is the introduction of a new "harmful content" definition. This definition includes content that is intended to incite violence, hate, or discrimination, as well as content that is sexually explicit or pornographic. Content that falls under this definition will be removed from both Google and Blogger.com.

In addition to the new "harmful content" definition, the policy also includes a number of other changes that are designed to make both platforms safer for users. These changes include:

  • A new "hate speech" policy that prohibits content that is intended to incite hatred or discrimination against individuals or groups based on their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
  • A new "violent content" policy that prohibits content that is intended to incite violence or that glorifies violence.
  • A new "sexual content" policy that prohibits content that is sexually explicit or pornographic.

The new policy is a significant step forward in the fight against harmful content online. It will help to make both Google and Blogger.com safer for users and will help to create a more positive and inclusive online environment.
